several meetings were conducted between the representatives of farmers cooperatives of Gaza strip and a number of wholesaler and traders of fruits and vegetables from the West Bank


Within the activities of the project “Market Oriented and Sustainable High Value Crops Sector Development in the West Bank and Gaza Strip” project, which is funded by the Kingdom of the Netherlands and  implemented by the  Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), in partnership with Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC), Mount of Green Olives (MGO) and Palestinian Businesswomen’s Association (Asala), several  meetings were conducted between the representatives of farmers cooperatives of Gaza strip  and a number of wholesaler and traders  of fruits and vegetables from the West Bank, to discuss the  possibility of establishing marketing agreements that will enable marketing of Gaza products in the West Bank.

Furthermore, an open discussion was organized with Ministry of Agriculture, between farmers, traders, GS and WS cooperatives, with the Minister of Agriculture Mr. Shawqi Ayaseh, to discuss the major problems facing the Palestinian agricultural sector. the Minister from his side talked about the ministry plans to develop the Palestinian Agricultural Sector, in addition to the Ministry update regarding  the indemnities of the last snow storm (elexa) and the recent Israeli aggression against Gaza Strip. The minister promised to arrange another meeting, to follow up on all the points that were discussed in the meeting. The discussions were also addressed the possible support that the MoA can provide to facilitate the marketing of Palestinian agricultural products (from the West Bank and Gaza) in domestic and global markets.
